Sonoma Coast October camp-out?
Anyone have any interest in an early October camp-out in or around Sonoma Coast State Park (Bodega Bay)? The weather tends to be nice around then, tis far enough in advance to reserve several contiguous sites and it might even be fun. Thoughts? Opinions?

I can pencil that in. October is nice along the coast. I'm in the far East Bay.
Don't get a chance to explore that area enough. This'll give me reason to dig into the Cal Camping book by Steinstra.
Amishman may pipe in. He seems the adventurous type. I see that static and SlowLane are local. This could work. Heck, maybe sooner than Oct.

Hippo and Covelo are also Bay Area folk. It would be swell (pun) to get a group together at the ocean. Those Oregon folk can't have all the fun!
It can't be October 4-5 as that is the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in the city. Goddamnit I will make it this year! Late September would also work.
There is the Dunes campground just north of Bodega Bay. You have a bit of a trek to the ocean over the dunes, but the camp sites are pretty nice (i.e., somewhat secluded) and there are a lot of them.
There is also Doran County Park south of Bodega Bay:

It's a little more exposed but could also be fun.

If in October, I may be able to make it. I already have taken my alloted time in September off and away from home/work but maybe if in October, I could swing it. I will keep an eye here and if it ends up being October, cool.

Yeah, September or October sounds good. Dunes look nice but I have only been to Doran but I could go either way. If there is a beach my kids will be happy, so etither work for us. I don't know if you can get adjacent sites at either one though with their reservation system. Anybody?
Thanks,
Mike
