My old friend Bob helped me discover my love of air-cooled VWs almost 35 years ago. He was well prepared for a trip to Kentucky in my Westy a few months ago!

Not on the way down, but for most of the 6-hour return trip. The rest of the story is that he had been on vacation out west the prior week (oh to be retired like him!) and is one of those old school folks who must read each day's newspaper from cover to cover, sooner or later!

Speaking of old school, we laugh that he has never used an ATM (although he claims to have backed through them so his wife could)!

My childhood was replete with my parents hollering the New York Times Sunday Review and letters to the editor from the front seat on some of our longer drives.
