STB Jim Hayden / Ratwell meet and greet (Ocean Beach SF)
see: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=217951
So unusual to have two bus events so close together in the same spot, but what the hey. This may be our chance to corrupt and assimilate Tim (Hippo) and Richard (ratwell) and get them to come over to the dark side.
That is, if they aren't here already. (Maybe they already are, I am kinda dumb)
covelo, DjEep and sailorkh will probably attend, perhaps pjalau (with his perfect bus), and I will be there. I am hoping that it doesn't rain too badly, as I really really do not want to sit inside the Beach Chalet.
See you there!
Meet-up this upcoming Saturday, February 10th, San Francisco

Left to right: the well coiffed Jim Hayden (STB), the always debonair Peter (pjalau), the lovely spouse of Jim Hayden's whose name I always forget, The surprisingly normal and pleasant Richard Atwell (ratwell) and Steve (back turned, in brown jacket).
Hiding behind Peter is Tim (hippo).
It was a really great day, not counting the miserable weather.

Taking photos in the driving rain: always fun.
Left to right: covelo in sandals, ratwell in orange, sailorkh in navy blue, somebody, Jim Hayden holding a bottle of Sierra Nevada, Steve with the umbrella, hippo with the watch cap, pjalau showing us his good side in the gray Columbia parka, dingo in the royal blue rain jacket.
That would be the hippo bus with the "Steal Your Face" decal on it.
Pity that he didn't powder coat the undercarriage while he had the engine out.

It was a lot of fun sitting in the bus in the driving rain watching all the cars slow down to gawk at all the busses. I'm sure that about 15 years ago the sight of 8 of them parked together at Ocean Beach was not that uncommon. Im sure there were a lot of old memories rekindled yesterday.

It was fun. I apologize for bailing to the bar so quickly, but my girlfriend and I were not well prepared for the rain and in need of a nice fire. Also, the beer at the Beach Chalet rules, despite the yuppies. Here are a few after-drinks pictures. Hippo, thanks so much for getting us together. I really enjoyed it.

Shoulda stayed, but Eepette wanted to spend one day last week not just sitting in a bus at the beach. Go fig.
