Gosh darn it looks like you guys had a great time! Budweiser? Hmmm. Spiffy, plan on attending our Deschutes gathering in June and we'll work on your beer selection Just kiddin'...I've drank my share of Bud. Seriously...looks like a fun campout, wish I could have been there! And Jasan, I think Zoomer is missing Tosa...they would have likely got lost in the woods.

What grand insperation I watched the vidios in the wee hours of the am , making my list of must does for my trip out of one forest to another . Such beauty and the music was interesting. And Hambone, as expected you gave a beautifull recount. Tiss no wonder you folks up in that area are at peace with Mother Earth.

Interesting in a good way I hope. It's just what I had playing on the stereo at the time.Elwood wrote: Such beauty and the music was interesting.
I've always wanted to try it but never have. It's kind of a risky proposition depending on weather and location. Finding a spot might be tricky. We'd have to be able to get in and out. With chains on the rear my bus does fairly well but I wouldn't want to risk being to far out in the outback just in case. Maybe somewhere in Central Oregon where the snow is drier and easier to get traction on. Possibly somewhere along Century Drive outside of Bend.Gypsie wrote:Snow camping sounds great. I've never had my van in the stuff. Locations?
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

What elevation is Maupin? You get some nice dry powder over there don't you? How are the road conditions along the river when it snows?deschutestrout wrote:Looks like this weekend it is anywhere over 2000 feetGypsie wrote:Snow camping sounds great. I've never had my van in the stuff. Locations?

What a difference a week makes.....
SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING AS A COLD WEATHER SYSTEM ALONG THE COAST MOVES ACROSS
SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON. THIS SYSTEM WILL LOWER
SNOW LEVELS TO NEAR 2000 FEET TONIGHT...WITH SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF
NEAR ONE FOOT POSSIBLE TONIGHT IN THE CASCADES.
ANOTHER RATHER STRONG SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE CASCADES
ON THANKSGIVING MORNING...AND MAINTAIN THE HEAVIER SNOW THROUGH
MOST OF THANKSGIVING AND THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT. SNOW LEVELS WILL
STILL BE CLOSE TO 2000 FEET...WITH ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 18
INCHES TO OVER 2 FEET POSSIBLE. WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH ARE POSSIBLE
AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE CASCADES WITH THIS SYSTEM.
PERSONS TRAVELING IN THE CASCADES THIS HOLIDAY WEEK SHOULD EXPECT
INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS WITH SNOW COVERED
ROADS IN THE CASCADES.
A HEAVY SNOW WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST
THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IF
YOU MUST...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR
VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY

We're heading to Rhododendron for Thanksgiving, then to check on the old log cabin in Goverment Camp to make sure the water was turned off (no one can remember, of course) - miss bus is staying home - we will be traveling incognito in the crew cab Ford F350.
