Definitely interested in a return visit to St. Louis. Maybe even 2 days of your time - one headed west and one headed east...or 2 in a row. Schedule is open so far after mid-May. Several items to evaluate / consider:

Review basics
Verify engine tuning
Move fuel pump (if not already complete by then)
Steering / front end re-build
Further electrical trouble shooting
Make Ernie a road warrior

Looking forward to another visit.
Sam

I'd be up for this as well if it would be helpful to the schedule...

I am always up for an IAC visit.

Anytime in the spring or early summer is great.

The bus is still in hibernation, but I don't anticipate any huge projects this year. Just general maintenance stuff.

Cheers.

Will this year be clockwise or counterclockwise?

Interested, prefer a Sunday.

I'm in at least for a half day, maybe all day. Looking to visit Chicago and my 99 y/o aunt perhaps late spring.
I want to be sure the bus is up to the trip, it will be my first road trip in it. I think the brake fluid should be changed and maybe the ball joint boots. I have some good quality BJ boots for the Thing are they the same for the bus? Which way you going this year?

Best,

I would like to book a day with you to begin learning how to maintain my 1978 VW bus. I've had it for a year and it's running fairly well, but I have lots of questions. The previous owner had it for 28 years and kept it in excellent shape--I want to keep up that record. I'm in the Dallas, Texas area now through the end of July, but have some flexibility about dates and locations.

Paducahfrank and Paducahlydia: Put us down. The engine should be going back in as early as this weekend. I'm sure there will be plenty of Bus to tear into after June - hopefully not the engine.

Y'all,
I am taking off in a couple of hours for a 1,450 mile jaunt. I have recorded each of your requests and am sketching in a light outline of the lap. Staaaaay tuned. Will be checking in every day.

Poor Don....you just love trotting out that photo...
It was safely anonymous until you identified the owner of this Most Amazing VW Entropy Ever ... :cyclopsani:
By now I'm proud to own it. It brings back happy memories of my kids pitching in, and represents the tipping point of getting the beast genuinely roadworthy. I still have that vintage lawn chair. Just don't tell my wife her favorite roasting pan was baptized in grease and Gumout. :blackeye:

I'm sure the grease and Gumout added to it's longevity and it's non-stick capability. :geek:

If you are hitting me up early in the season, you'll be checking my new engine install, if you are in Michigan at the end of the season, you will most likely be helping me with a center pin for my steering.

We’re planning on dual carb install and balancing here in Rochester.

Looks like we will see you September!
