This. This is so important in the comprehension of new ideas. I've always understood something better when trying to explain it. If I can explain something complex to a fifth grader, chances are I really understand it.Amskeptic wrote: …I have expressed the idea that we are a ladder here, those just a couple of rungs above the questioner were encouraged to answer because there really is additional learning in composing a cogent answer.
I think much of this depends on the direction you want the site and/or service to go. Do you want to attract more people who are potential bus owners and walk them through the baby steps of care? Middle-ground folks who used to pay a mechanic but want to be more self-reliant? Die-hard bus owners who won't let anyone else touch their car but need guidance? Is growing the site or growing the business more important? Do you even want either of those?Any ideas on how to make it easier on beginners?
What can we do to make the site more accessible? I'd be happy to redo the search tags, what can be done on theSamba?
That's the key word for me. Friends help friends work on cars all over the country, but not many can honestly teach the hows and whys of what we're doing. I would never dream of letting someone else blindly work on my bus, let alone pay them! But to me gaining knowledge and observing aptitude are priceless. What would it be like if I was competing with another traveling VW consultant?
