Itinerant Air-Cooled Greetings From Idaho
I saw smoke. I feared a crash-n-burn.
Fortunately it wasn't. That is the driver in red shirt. He helped to try to put out the fire:
So this first responder had only water. It wasn't getting anywhere:
Then it ran right out of water, so they neatly rolled up the hose:
. . . and scrammed as a gas tank exploded:
Then a chemical fire truck pulled up out of view here, but the output was able to blanket the entire fire:
The fire was annoyed and stubborn by this point, but two hoses from different directions finally got the upper hand:
. . . leaving a charred snowy scene:
Had a nice chat with some fellow gawkers. We wondered if the Audi's on the back with blistered paint facing forward would be repaired and sold as-new. Then we wondered if the national debt was going to trigger hyper-inflation.

(p.s. check your fuel hoses again)

Those don't look like new cars. More like an auto shipping company either private or for a used dealer. If they were all new they'd have the protective vinyl over the fenders and glass as they come off the ship. Looks like the fire started in the tractor.chitwnvw wrote:How would cars in an auto transporter catch fire? I smell the auto makers scamming the insurance companies!
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

Those aren't Audi's, they're Hyundais. Audi's come completely wrapped in a factory car cover that zips up. The entire car is covered and the covers have huge Audi logos on them.Westy78 wrote: If they were all new they'd have the protective vinyl over the fenders and glass as they come off the ship.
They also didn't come off a ship. The vehicles on the truck are 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe and 2009 Sonata, they're built in the US at a plant in Alabama.
2009 Santa Fe:
2009 Sonata:

Thanks for the correction. Ya know? On second thought, it didn't really sound like an Audi gas tank explosion . . . aluminum has a softer sound.
