Okay I will not be so sensitive.
I have had this engine in for three years and have not killed it yet and do not intend to...unless I don't get this thermostat figured out. I may need a new thermostat has anyone recently found one? Are there vendors that still have them because last I looked which was a while ago they were hard to find. I will be investigating mine on Thursday and will know then just why mine is not working right.
Colin spends another day with me Yea!

Please let me know what you have observed as per our discussion. . .cheesehead wrote: I have had this engine in for three years and have not killed it yet and do not intend to...unless I don't get this thermostat figured out.
When engine is stone cold, the little lever on the cross shaft should be tilting forward. After driving around for 5-10 minutes it should be closer to vertical. After you get home from driving around, it should be vertical-to-almost-tilting towards you, and should have a little clank when you let go of the lever as the fail-safe spring smartly opens it.
