July 29 - 2011 Hambone Springs Camp

Post by hambone » Wed Jun 22, 2011 9:35 pm

5th annual, end of July? :thumbleft:
My favorite, besides th name.
I hope to spend a few days up there, if summer ever truly arrives...
Come on don't leave me up there quietly crying to myself.
Ancient trails, springs, and the short season of the high country.

Whatsamatter therestofyou?????
I may go earlier in the week to get some peace and quiet. Lots of mysteries out there... I'd like to solve a couple, like the old Indian trail up Iron Creek Divide.

I've never made one of these pilgrimages, is this one of the kid friendly not-too-scaredy ones?

I got knocked out of commission last summer with a bum back and never got to go with you guys. Chatted with Sluggo at the Lab the other day, and I'm wanting in!

Kid friendly, but it is deep in wilderness down a long rough road, so it depends on the parent and the particular kid. Other camps are better for kids than Hambone I'm afraid, unless they are very backwoods savvy and can tolerate sometimes harsh conditions.

Hmm - the boy (12) is learning. Perhaps I should plan to take him to High Rock (is that the place you guys rebuilt the outhouse?) and such for awhile first.

At 12 and able to poop in a hole then he'll be OK anywhere. It's always good to get some test runs in though!
H.R. may still be snowed in....tough year out there in the Cascades. We've been pushed low for a long time.

Ah - I thought somebody had nixed the 29th. That could work, if I don't have to go up to Tacoma that weekend.

If my engine repair takes I am in for the 29th. I have my fingers, toes and eyes crossed.

Backpack trip for near Labor day weekend (perhaps after for thinner crowds)?
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....
