We couldn't find the ol wilson we left I looked for him as soon as we got there, hopefully he went to a good home or a cool souvenir for a kid but I think he probably got burned in a fire...Elwood wrote:Spiff, been waiting for story about why the "Wilson Factory" is shut down and was the one you left there last trip still there? I care about those things
About the wilson factory, I did a bunch and I kind of got burnt out on it. It's one of those things that has to be spontaneous and creative. I think I might start finding bigger rounds of fallen lumber and carve an ol'spirit of the forest face on them for those that I get the pleasure of camping with.
I still have the first wilson I made tho, he is part of cabinets in the bus, complete with a wooden "cigarette"
Thanks for asking!!! =D>

"Road 63 is washed out, closed, just above the Road 70 (Bagby) junction at Little Fan."
What would happen if that happened while we were out somewhere? Would our buses be doomed? Helicopter them out? Wow...

The latest:
"Due to road failure, Road 63 at Little Fan Creek is closed. Next summer, the access to the Bull of the Woods Wilderness Trails will be Rd. 46 to 4670 to 6350 to 63. This is a 30 mile detour. At this time, there is no date set to repair Road 63."
Road failed in the same spot 2 years ago. Landslides. The detour is arduous and takes forever.

We could take the detour out, but what would happen if there wasn't a detour? Would you have to say goodbye to your bus? Wonder if that has ever happened. I'm sure a helicopter would be crazy expensive...
There are many other remote spots down the Clacky, no reason to fret gentle campers. "Oh the places you'll go!"

This is a primary access road that the F.S. took a couple years to fix last time. It's in a very unstable landslide area so shovels wouldn't cut it for this particular mess. It will do the critters some good to keep the humans out though, that's usually a pretty popular area.
The bypass goes up Rhododendron Ridge, actually quite cool up there, sweeping views and pretty remote (although fragmented) country. Never camped up there, only passin' thru.
Also been wanting to check out the Westside of Bull of the Woods, not many visitors over there.
