Are we going to try for the spot up top? If I take Friday off I may try and make it over Thursday night like a Gypsie.
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

That's what I'm thinkin' ... as we get solid sun exposure (and I think we all would appreciate some sun). Other option would be to take over the campground at Bonney Crossing ... problem with that is we'd be down in a hole and would get VERY little sun. So... I guess I'm throwing my vote at the spot on top. But I'll do whatever. I'll dig out directions.

My Thursday departure is iffy ... if I can it will be evening (like just before dark) ... but I'm gonna try!

Extended forecast looks splendid!

Directions (patched together from various years): If you're coming in 84, take 84 east to The Dalles...last exit number 87. Head south on US197 about 35 miles to the flashing light at Tygh Valley.
If you're taking 26 past Government Camp, continue to OR216. Turn left (north) on 197 to Tygh Valley.
Turn right into town...and at the tavern, turn a hard right taking you toward the fair ground. Go past the fairgrounds...stay on the main road...it will turn to gravel with signs saying "Badger Creek Rd". Stay on this for 8 miles give or take. Go straight on Road 2710 at the 27 junction (27 is paved to the right - don't take this!).
You'll pass a small campground with toilet on your left (Little Badger) at the bottom of the canyon .... continue on climbing another mile or so, and you'll see a two track to your left with a little road marker that says something like 1002710 .... turn here...we plan to be on this road.
https://maps.google.com/maps/myplaces?h ... 0&t=p&z=15

Basically, it's just like going to Little Badger, but instead of dropping down into the campground, you stay on the main gravel and climb up the other side of the canyon. The crossroads is up on the other side, take a left.

I will put up the orange VW hubcap! Will there be any snow out there? It is suddenly cold here in Portland, but is supposed to warm up in a couple of days. Mark I sure hope you can make it on Thursy, as well as the rest o' you.
I'm jonesin' like hell for a wilderness camp letmetell ya.

Could be 7th annual!

Directions look solid ... only the "8 miles or so" I believe should appear once ... it's approx 8 miles on the gravel road, not 8 plus another 8.

Still gunning for a Thursday evening arrival in camp.

Guess what, I have been studying the old maps. Bonny Crossing is actually along an old abandoned trail, I had a hunch. It follows Badger downstream a good 4 miles.
We were along it a couple years ago when we camped at the CROTCH of the 2 creeks and hiked down to the water.
Also the current FS road down to our 2013 camp used to be a trail. Who knew? Only the Oregon National Foresters, long asleep.

Do we have a head count?
Janelle is talking about a ham dinner Saturday evening in recognition of Easter.
Jason, Mark, Bob, Janelle, Melissa, and myself. Anyone else?
We are almost packed. The Boell plan is to leave Portland around 3:00 on Thursday, stop in the Dalles for fuel and a bite, and onward to camp.

Lookit this Little Badger forecast:
Thursday A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 55. Light and variable wind becoming north around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Thursday Night A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.

Friday A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 60.
Friday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34

Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.
Saturday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 33.

Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 67.

We washed the Bus today in the rain, she sure looks purty without her winter gook.
BTW Eva will be with me this trip, she's very excited. I'll be leaving Portland mid-morning, hope those Gorge winds aren't too crazy!
I'll make something in the dutch oven, or maybe a big breakfast. Whatever works out. Should I bring the gigantic skillet? (Thanks to Barb for the gigantic skillet)

I'm just bringin' my normal grub. I can bring mashed potatoes for the Easter feed ... if I remember them. Food usually has a way of sorting itself out, or so it seems. Always way too much
