Oregon Eastside Camp - March 22 - 2012

Post by hambone » Tue Feb 21, 2012 12:08 pm

6th annual, can you believe it?

For the benefit of those further south, I am considering a camp just north of Sisters near the confluence of the Deschutes and Squaw Creek. I was there about 10 years ago and it's very beautiful desert canyon country. However, there may be seasonal road closures so I'm trying to figure that out with the district rangers.

Would this be something you'd consider, or is everyone set on the Badger Creek area? Due to the road situation it may be a moot point anyway, but I thought I'd put something out there.

Mark, are you planning on attending this year? You were scarce all of last year due to your band. Hope you can make a couple of camps!

Still to be decided, but they are usually for the weekend. I am often able to get out there earlier though, due to my camping fetish.
Well what do you guys think? Or should we just stick to Badger Creek? It is much closer.

Weekends only for me. I'd say we see if anyone from the south is interested before we decide on the spot.

Man, my weekends are slammed in March with gigs and family stuff. Weekdays are golden ... and April has a couple of windows. I'll try my darndest to make a couple campy trips this season. When in March are you targeting? Most weekends (except 23-31st) I could do Wednesday and Thursday at Barlow if there are early arrivers.

What about March 23 weekend? I think that's Spring Break, pretty funny that we'll be far from Daytona in many ways.
See you get a new hobby and leave all the old timers behind. Plus I stopped using deodorant/bathing or ANY first aid, yes it's in God's hands now. But MAN at least make a trip or 2 or I don't see ya but for Nahalem or the Rendezvuvw.

I am happy with Badger Creek. Whychus Creek doesn't really start to blossom until May, maybe we can have a camp there about that time.

There are many areas we haven't even explored up the 27 Road, north of Little Badger. Pen Point, Jordan Butte. I have a pocket full of dimes and will poke around the area and see if there are any wilderness backdoor camps.

Weekend before or after? But you say you are booked anyway.
The 9-5 guys only have weekends off.

I could do the weekend of 17/18 but I have contract negotiations on that Friday so might not be able to get out of town early. Any other weekend I'm open.

Do what you need to do ... don't plan around me as my weekends lately are tight. I'll look at April and May and see if I can post a weekend that's free for another campout. If you're in Barlow ... and depending on the weekend ... I may make an appearance like last year for a night. Carry on.

I was thinking, Little Badger? It's lovely down there. An outhouse too. Lots of sun too for being in a canyon bottom.

It also depends on the weather. We'll have to see if our early spring comes back.

Easter weekend may work ... have one thing pending Saturday, but I'll know in a couple of days about that. April 6-8. Little Badger sounds great. but again, plan your own gig...if I can make it I can make it.
