Nobody even mentioned that weekend, quit making things so complicated.

Yeah, it's usually a howlin' at the moon kind of camp. You don't want to traumatize your family! Maybe too late? :cherry:

From the Forest Service:
Road 63 is closed at Little Fan Creek Campground (Hot Springs Fork) due to a road reconstruction. Construction should be completed by the end of October.
Our traditional spot on Elk Lake Creek MAY (may) be open in time though I'm not holding my breath. We may need a chainsaw though since that area has been closed over 2 years...perhaps the illustrious Gypsie can get one of his running in time?

Other options are Cripple Creek, Grouse-Huxley Camp (at the end of crazy 4611, whattya think Jasan???), Linney Creek, or even Kinzel Lake. I will pick one once the date gets closer because you guys are no good at democratic camping. I don't mind, it's fun doing the scouting and recommending. At this point Cripple Creek (Bob's Buck Camp) seems the most likely due to it's proximity to town along pretty good roads but we'll see.

Now it becomes more clear... Not sure if I will be able to make it, in that case, but I will work on it. I travel for work, so when I am home it is hard for me to justify being away from the family.

Still hope to be able to be there...

Will there be fishing at Lake Kinzel, perhaps?

Not sure, but it looks like the road has received some improvements. Probably like the road to Hambone Springs now. The lake is tiny.

http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide.org ... _Trailhead
at Kinzel Lake, start by exploring the lake shore, where tiny, carnivorous sundew plants grow in the boggy edges. Then past the lake along campground trails to the Kinzel Lake Trail (no. 655), turn right and climb 0.3 mile to the turnaround described above. There is a primitive campground at Kinzel Lake that makes for a good base camp for weekend explorations in the area, or just a nice spot for a picnic at the end of your hike.

Here's info on Linney Creek:
viewtopic.php?t=5897
Linney Creek Trail - No. 499

This trail provides an access to the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness. The trailhead is in an area of dense, old-growth rain forest with fern and rhododendron growth forming much of the ground vegetation. Draw Creek converges with Linney Creek here. The trail is a midway access for Salmon River Trail and fords Salmon River itself. The trail traverses a steep side slope above the creek initially. When the creek empties into the Salmon River the trail heads upstream to an unconstructed ford. There is no longer a footbridge crossing the river here and the ford is challenging. Once across the river, the trail ends at its junction with the Salmon River Trail.

Kinzel or Linney? Why not make this an adventure into the unknown?!!?!
Or Elk Lake Creek if it's open, it's really a special spot.

I should be able to split Friday morning if someone goes with me. I'm sure not gonna sit out there alone all day again, that didn't work out so well. Felt like a little kid waiting for Santa.

Where the hell is Gypsie? Anyone know if he's going?

So it's the 16th for sure? I'm planning on taking that day off so if you want to meet up somewhere Bob, that would work.
