Hey! You guys might know the answer to this. After one of my classes last week, the prof took us out to celebrate the end of the semester. I didn't know a thing about beer and didn't like the first one I ordered. (Guinness!) So he suggested a few others, until I found one I enjoyed. (We ran up quite a tab.) My favorite had the word "Sierra" in it. But thats all I remember. Anyone ever heard of it? I'd like to try it again. It was the first beer I was ever able to tolerate.

Exactly. Thanks, John. Much as I'd like to brag about my gardening prowess, there's absolutely no way I'm carrying across that border.
I camped next to a retired DEA field agent in Death Valley in March. THAT was an eye-opener.

Nah Cindy. Wuss=light beer, at least that's what I've been told!
Your first beer, ale, actually was a Guinness??? You should have been warned that ale, especially that one, is heavy and stout. Next time you go drinking, try a Belgian Ale. I liked Triple Carmelite (sp?) or Duvel and they are easy on my palate.

We had a few Irish boys with us, so I dared to try it. I knew they'd take it off my hands if I didn't like it.zblair wrote:Nah Cindy. Wuss=light beer, at least that's what I've been told!

You might have tried Harp - it's a lager but not bad either for beer. You know what? I just realized that since we're driving I can actually bring some hard liquor for my refreshment. So that's whiskey with Jasan and Gypsie and tequila with any takers?! I'll find Neal for that I think for belated birthday revelry. Unless he's stickin to brews. Jeffrey won't go there (hard liquor) and with all of the brews there for him to try, why should he?

Pale Ale=Hoppy
Hoppy=Good
Actually, going back to Guinness after being on such a super hoppy beer kick makes Guinness seem watered down to me.
Pale Ales have such a nice balance of hop bitterness and malt sweetness, mixed in with great fruit and floral notes. Sierra Nevada is a good one, Mirror pond is also nice.
The keg for Maupin looks like it'll be either Horse Ridge IPA, or Red Chair IPA, both from Deschutes. :)

I do love a wee drop of the craither form time to time. Now my wife Sommer, she drinks her tequila by the jam jar. ;) I'm sure she'll help if no one else does. . .So that's whiskey with Jasan and Gypsie and tequila with any takers?!

I found a local place with a nice selection of beers from as far away as New York. I'll have to sacrifice myself over the next few weeks and try as many as I can before Maupin so I only bring the best ones
I may also bring a wee dram of the single malt scotch that got good reviews at the Badger Creek campout.
I also dibs a spot by bean5446 again this year if he's gonna have fresh roasted coffee and a small keg of something from Deschutes brewery.
