While we are waiting for the Pacific Northwest Weenies (PNWW) to decide upon something, be advised that there is a bus campout coming up the 11th of November just north of the Bay Area. Bay Windows welcome, and I will be attending.

Read all about it on that other site: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewto ... 2&start=20

Sheesh. 7 pages for the Northwest campout? I guess if I wanted to organize a Midwest campout I could probably call the other 2. Maybe by the time my bus is back together there might even be 4! Have fun guys and gals and did I sound a little jealous? THATS BECAUSE I AM!

Okay, I've resisted the impulse to comment on this for awhile, but as a native-born Californian (in exile) I just can't let it slide anymore ..

California has those "season" things too, despite what they show on TV. And frozen stuff from the sky? Three feet of it fell on us in Weaverville just a few days after we bought the Bus ... haven't seen anywhere near that much in Portland yet.

Yeah! Here in SF we have four seasons: Rain, Fog, Indian Summer, and More Fog!

OK true, depending on where you are in Cali I suppose the seasons do change. Unfortunately I found that out coming over the Sierras this past January.

And with that, I'm off to Champoeg to camp in some of those seasons AKA rain.

Weeeellllllllll.....with these last few days of torrential downpours it looks like the White River area is now out of the equation. Seeing how hwy 35 is GONE and the bridge where we would turn off to the campgrounds is under four feet of mud and boulders I think we can safely assume that ODOT will not have it open and cleared by next weekend. So it looks like the Clackamas River area will be the spot, that is, if the road up there isn't closed due to landslides. I'll leave it up to Hambone to pick the final destination as I think he knows the back country up there better than I do since he does trail restoration up there.

Well, I'm back and very happy to be back to the warm wet green NW. The East is beautiful too, just different. Felt like a foreign land.
We'll see how it goes. I'll start lookin' at maps and make a few suggestions.
I am NOT happy to be back at work. I need to change things around...

Looks like the snow level will be around 3000' for the next few days, with rain almost every day down lower. We may get lucky with a gap next weekend, or not....
Everyone should bring plenty of warm clothes and some dry firewood. You guys are tough! We'll know more by next week.
