Las Vegas Area Campout

Post by EZ Gruv » Mon Nov 17, 2008 6:11 pm

Hey All,

I'm toying with the idea of organizing a multi-day (Friday and Saturday
nights) campout in the Las Vegas, NV area next spring.

Would there be any interest within the group for a campout around March?

I'm thinking of the Valley of Fire State Park, which is about 45 minutes outside of Las Vegas, and about 30 minutes from Lake Mead National Recreation Area. It is gorgeous in the spring! High temps in the low 70s, Low temps in the 50s; with no rain to speak of (but it could happen).

Here are a couple pics from my last trip:

Anyway, if anyone is interested, let me know!
Thanks

Eric I would be very interested if it included all us , maybe not so "Show " type buspilots. Love to see you showing yours in LV in your three peice suit of same fabric in your bus and the "Abby Road " album placed just right for effect =D> =D>

I will stay tuned to updates as I love the SW deserts beauty and the BBB is a bit to early for me to injoy or get it together.

Hope this works out, Barb

This won't be a show, it's a campout! Who cares what your Bus looks like! Everyone welcome!

No trophies, no judging, just good times, friends, and VWs!

Well ,ok did not mean to be negitive. I really do admire your bus and how you show it. I used to work shows for off roaders a bunch a yrs ago, like SEMA and Nora and had been to many of the places before they became protected in the sw and Mexico. It would be wonderfull to see the the protection and beauty and be with like kinds of people.

Thank you for getting this started.

You may live to regret that. :drunken: Can you schedule it in late March?

I've camped often at Valley of Fire. Great spot. Gorgeous. Plus you can always beat it back to town for a buffet if things get too tough.

The date is very open right now. The park doesn't take reservations for the group campsites until January 2nd.

Man, I'd love to synchronize my schedule with a visit out to Pahrump Nevada to play the old Steinway and camp either incoming or outgoing.

If there's any money left in the family kitty by March, I'm planning a springtime desert run. The ultimate destination is Phoenix (don't ask) but the route is begging to include the California Coast, Death Valley, Lost Wages, and the Colorado Plateau.

That's the good news.

The bad news is the transport mode: Either Asstro or Hyundai :colors:

I'm thinking about another cross country bus tour this spring....to middle Arizona and Southern Utah....this is a possibility....I'd prefer later in the season....March is still kinda early, 2 yrs ago I did this trip in April and found roads still closed due to snow in the Sierra Nevada mts.....And it snowed on us at the grand canyon
Take care,
