4th Annual Deschutes River RendezVW, Maupin Oregon

Post by deschutestrout » Sun Nov 16, 2008 3:58 pm

Hey gang! Yes, it's that time again! I'm already making plans for the 4th Annual Deschutes River RendezVW, being held in Maupin, Oregon on June 19-21, 2009 (Father's Day weekend). We're expecting another great turnout this year (last year we had 50 buses and miscellaneous VW's attend!) Great VW community, food, live music, the ever-present sound of the Deschutes River. If you've attended in past years, we hope to see you again...if this will be your first year, WELCOME! This is a fun, family-friendly weekend. Hope you can be a part of it!

Please print out the following forms, make copies of them if you wish and distribute to other VW friends. Make your reservations early if you want an event shirt....late registrations, well you may not get a shirt. Any questions? PM me. Hope to see you all in Maupin, Oregon next June! Later, Mark

Yeah, my initial post had spaces in my URL for the reservation form....Sluggo and Colin didn't like it :geek: Removed the spaces and the post appeared properly.

Told wifey to pencil it in. Couldn't make last years due to scheduling. Ya know, those darn kids and that skool thing.

But being that FD this year is the third weekend, we should be able to make it.

Sounds like a time alright. A good time.

In the picture, isn't the "gathering" in that roundish grassy field on this side of the river? Looks familiar. Maybe from past pic's that were posted.

Ok, here's the deal. We wanna come. Bad. To finally meet all of youse. But I am going to either be one month in or one week in grad school, depending upon where I am accepted. So that means we can't take two weeks to drive Phred there, or at least I can't and J doesn't want to drive all that way without me.

So here's what came up in conversation just yesterday: IF we were to fly to PDX, would somebody out there in IAC land be:

A) Willing to pick us up from the airport

B) Let us ride with them to Maupin

C) Willing to take us back to the airport

We would pay for the gas, probably pick up a couple of meals (or make them for you, J is a FANTASTIC cook!). We would also have to be able to borrow blankets/something to sleep in/on because the airlines wouldn't be too nice about allowing us to drag camping gear on the plane without charging us an arm and a leg....

Open to any and all suggestions/offers about how to do this...

Z, there are cabins that you can rent from Mark also if that interests you at all. I'd be willing to pick you guys up but I'll have a full bus with girlfriend and dogs.

Cabins!

One down, transport to go...thanks for the suggestion Westy78 :flower:

We really do love to camp, but given the situation that might be better....How far are the cabins from where folks hang out?

If you can't find a ride I'd be willing to let you use my car to follow us (most likely a caravan) to Maupin. I'm sure you're responsible folk. I'm only about 15 minutes from the airport.

Image

In this photo the cabins are right behind the grove of trees to the right of the circular field.

Whoops, wait. I may be mistaken on where those cabins are but they aren't more than a 1/4 mile from the campground. I think there's actually a private home behind those trees but the cabins are between the field and the bridge at the right of the photo.
