Bill Trafton is hosting another VW Gathering at his shop at 252nd and Stark Saturday August 23rd.

Anyone going?

I would love to see an IAC Showing to show him our appreciation of his generous parts sharing.

I will use the "Thumper" rule of thumb regarding Service at his shop.

Can't really speak to it personally, my understanding is all from hearsay.

The only folk I've allowed to (read: talked into) wrench on my rig has been Hambone and Tristessa. And that's only cause they work for Beer and/or coffee.

Teri goes back to Chicago at some time that day, I might be able to swing it.

We'll be there only if I'm in Portland for some reason. Bill is a dear and I whole heartedly recommend him to anyone, he's worked on my bus a couple of times quickly, efficiently, with always a story to tell, and no matter how busy the shop is, he'll always stop and give his full attention...

So how was it?

It was fun.. free hot dogs and snow cones. LOTS of VW's.. I saw Hambone, Joseph, and Gypsy and the other guy I met in Maupin who plays guitar but can't remember their name.. they have a new baby. ... really nice guy who had a 72 camper for sale there. It was low key, but well attended. My two favorites were the single cab for sale for 20K and the sweet splitty Panel.

They had some nice bugs there, but personally I don't like it when they tear off the turn signal lite and smooth out the fender. That raised light is my favorite part of the bug.

Michele wants a bug convertible now and is about ready to sell her Rover.

I'm trying to talk her into a bug with a sunroof. Very stock with smooth hubcaps. Yeah! Red/Orange or Yellow... about 1971 or so. That would be cool.

Sorry for rambling.. how was your trip?

John I believe. He has also had a change in tune about Trafton's shop. Things have been all worked out. The more he putters with his machine, the more respect he has about it's inner workings. He'll be pullng the engine before you know it!

Gonna try to get him to one of the campouts, though it will be tough with the 'new baby' thing in the mix.

Nothin worth repeating.
I think most of it was fine tuning and the frustration one can get when one pays someone else to 'fix' a problem that may actually be many 'problems' that need fixin'.

Yeah I don't think the guy does his own repairs....
