March / April '08 Barlow District 2nd Annual....whoooot!

Post by deschutestrout » Sun Oct 14, 2007 7:45 pm

Okay....my turn  . Last year Hambone, Jasan and I did a weekend in the Barlow District of the Mt Hood Nat'l Forest...was great fun, great weather, great food.....yeah, one of those group / bus camping trips we're all becoming very fond of.

So...late March or early April depending on snow pack. Bonney Crossing (where we camped last year) served us well...depending on snow pack I've become fond of some sites on Barlow Creek (hopefully the snow pack will prevent us from going there in March/April as that would indicate an absolutely crappy / global warming type winter :pukeleft: )

Just needed to post this because it is a trip I can actually attend...and we had such fun ushering in the "new" camping season last year :flower:

perfect time to start the chatter as I see these planning sessions integral in the function itself. Hunters moon started in June.

Hammie or Jasan, can you post a location on a map for the area Mark is talkin on.

I am looking for barlow creek on google earth...
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

Memories,
Like the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were........

Ooh that looks fun... I wanna go.

Bump.

Just thinking 'bout campin' and thought I'd give this thread a lift.

As soon as the snow leave that area, Zane and I will take a drive up and try to find a "new" awesome campspot. I'm gunnin' for the road that follows Barlow Creek...and trying to find a spot down by the White River...off the beaten path a bit. Otherwise, I am already familiar with some dandy sites in the area.

So...whose all thinkin' 'bout this?

Sheez. I might be able to make that one. I'm planning a run to Death Valley in early April. Oregon's kinda on my way.

Would I get shot if I arrived in an Asstro?

We might give you a shot if you arrive in an Astro :drunken: . You are absolutely welcome to join us...we may ask you to park a bit away from the group though :geek:

And, keep Father's Day weekend in mind...Deschutes gathering...a fun time and a bunch of IAC folks to meet.

Why I oughta!!! :blackeye: Man, it's so damn hard to get motivated to install an engine in this cold and rain. I just feel like going into hibernation.

I agree.. weather doesn't usually effect me at all. I like Oregon weather usually, but I've been like a clam lately.. hard to get motivated to anything. And everytime I walk outside, it's wet and muddy and yuck!!!
