Celebration of Life for Marc Tringali - MONDAY!

Hello everyone,

Some of you knew Marc Tringali, aka gorge runner.
He left this world on Thursday, October 23, 2014 - his 55th birthday.

I would love it if all the VW folks and friends from the Portland area swarmed the Lucky Lab tomorrow night (Monday October 27th) and raised a pint or two or three or four in his memory. Let's talk about camping and trips and share memories.

I'll be there by 8:30pm but please start without me! :)

Please invite anyone who knew him.

Monday Night - October 27th, 2014
Time: Anytime you want!
Lucky Lab: 1945 NW QUIMBY ST. PORTLAND, OR 97209

Contributions to help his family out would be greatly appreciated. He did not have insurance.

Wow. I haven't seen Marc in a couple years but the last time I did he seemed like a super healthy guy. Sad to hear. 55 is just to young to leave this world. Won't be able to make it to the Lab but raise a pint or two for me.

I had no idea this was here! I guess Clubs Get Togethers & Events.

Marc and I have spent some time together. I totally enjoyed working with him and Paige on misszora.

He let me drive his gorgeous turbo-intercooled Subaru-powered Vanagon (and I say, it was a beautifully engineered and fitted set-up). He invited me to his cabin in Washington for an afternoon of touring his spread and drinking beer on the porch.

Our conversations went to solid deep places, and I am sorry that Marc did not go one level further, I am sorry that I did not push further (and I vow that I will push further in the future). It was so beautiful of an afternoon when we talked about "success" vs success, and how a sunny day is such a greater gift than being stuck in the confines of a mansion behind the security bars across the windows. He was a sharp people-watcher and had interesting insights. He was awkward in places that charmed me, my own social anxiety and shyness was familiar with his, so I eased through those moments. I should have pounced.

So Marc, why didn't you TALK with me a little further? How on Earth did we miss? Such a gulf of unspoken realities right on the porch with us. You were a gorgeous stupid human being like the rest of us.

Here's a picture for the two of you, Paige and Jasan. Is it not an adorable instant on Earth?
Too many people I have met over the past twelve years through this business who do NOT understand that they become a part of my life, too . . .

Well, that's the thing about humans, isn't it? We think we may know other humans, but we don't. We may think we have a friendship that goes deep, but it doesn't. And every damn time we get disappointed by another human being's inexplicable actions, we need go no further than our Self to see that we all have an inner sanctum whose daily monologue is often at complete odds with what the rest of the world may think it knows about us.

I love to puncture that inner reality/outer presentation gulf, I love getting to the real stops and starts and wins and losses of our inner worlds. MARC! You were so close! Naaahprobablynotfuckit, I was too nervous. This Itinerary allows me the security blanket of being the "expert", of "controlling the interaction" but sitting on Marc's porch, I was just a shy anxious human, apparently with an equally shy anxious human . . . we were only two beers in, maybe we could have actually communicated our respective terrors of existence.

Thanks Paige. Damn, that was fun. Sorry about the canary I had to come back and so we all could fix it for real. Marc looks lighter/younger in this series of pictures than the one you posted next to his Vanagon. Was that more recent?

Nope. The Vanagon came before. The picture with him standing in front of it is from the day we bought it in Bozeman, Montana.

I still hafta pay my Visa and insurance, MARC.

Instead of lolling around in the clouds, why don't you HELP me get this car back together.

Tell God I am still trying but could use better clues about what to do with my time on Earth.

Do you MISS US yet?

Chicken.

Good! Thank-you, it will help close this slightly ripped feeling. I lost a good friend not one week after you told me about Marc. Stepped in front of a train, said to have been accidental, totally tortured soul who I loved in spite of his having represented so much of what I hate about some men, he was still a child under all that, and he knew I knew that about him.
