Holiday Westravaganza GTG

Post by tristessa » Sat Nov 24, 2012 6:23 pm

(cross-posting from the Lucky Lab thread for everyone's enjoyment)
Holiday Westravaganza gathering at the NW Quimby Lab on Sunday, December 2nd, 1-4pm. This started from the Samba Vanagon group but I think it's grown beyond that. The December one is traditionally their highest turnout, and with the added outreach to some of the local clubs for last month's fundraiser/shindig it could be even *more* huge.

Get out there! Meet new people, some of whom are quite possibly your neighbors! I think we've been getting a bit insular lately, lots of the Ususal Suspects but the fresh faces that come by don't usually stick around.

I went to it. I would've let you guys know, however I was computerless for a bit there - was at a LAN party up at DuPont.

Pretty bitching display of Westies, some real sick conversion works too! :)

I managed to get down there after work and there was still a sizable crowd. Saw Jim (brown/white Bay, hangs out here, can't remember his screeen name), saw VanWilder and his new engine .. watched Tristar Eric do a smokey burnout with his red STI-powered Doka. =)

Tristar here (no burnout thoug): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPeMRrf-Q5g

He'd sold it a few years ago and recently bought it back & drove it home to Portland -- from the inspection stickers in the windshield it was living in Texas.

edit: here's a vid of the burnout http://youtube.com/watch?v=KYkPaWzOUao

Oh nice, I wonder how much it cost?
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
