Frig, man. I still quake when I think of my trial-by-fire with the LeadFoot Twins. Here I was, on my second day EVER driving a bus, and you guys fling me headlong into the most adverse driving conditions possible for these vehicles. And I'm supposed to be won over? ... but your spirit, your Spirit will have nothing to do with small nattering adult justifications, your spirit will be crying inside as you attempt to out talk your inner truth,... all because you ignored The Life, The Love, The Spirit, The Truth, The Joy, the unassailable joy. . . of driving in a windswept gorge in a VW bus on a beautiful day.
Colin
I did pass you going uphill, though.
"small, nattering adult justifications"
I take it you reference the previously-referenced airbags, cruise, good sound, heater, AC and fuel efficiency?
Wait... We've been there.
"unassailable joy"
The peak of the joy you reference I reached during the two days after Maupin. The sadness of leaving new friends provided a dash of piquance to the overpowering sweetness of solo travel homeward in the Dorper. It was geovehicular heaven.
My other vehicles are appliances. The VW is a spirit. I know this.
This is a spirit, too, perhaps even as godlike as a bus, but it's very poor at carrying stuff I need and I can't sleep in it. I also had to give it back.
Everything's a compromise.
