Yes, that's the area. I'm also involved with www.trailadvocate.org
Check out the trail index, gives you an idea of the area. It's a pretty large area, SW of Mt. Hood. The Clackamas River bisects the ranger district. Elevations range from 500' to 5000', lots of different habitat inbetween. Lots of logging over the years, but lots of pristine areas too. Vast wilderness as well. This is more or less typical "westside" forest, douglas fir, western hemlock, redcedar ferns you know the type if you live in the NW. Pines in the drier zones. It usually stays temperate over the winter, with snow above 2000' more or less. But clammy! I do know of a few remote places, but easy to get to, mostly paved FS roads.
This is just my "home range", I'm open to anything. Sounds like fun, I've been wanting to do some wet season camping for some time, but didn't feel like sitting out in the rain by myself!

While that place does, indeed, look wonderful, it would be impossible for the Californians to come to for a weekend. ::d-cry::

That's why I mentioned Hagelstein Park. We can avoid driving over the Siskiyous that way and it is about halfway between Portland and San Francisco.

I think it may behoove us to do a California one for you guys and gals closer to that area and do one for the folks up closer to this area....or we can wait and set a date in the spring or summer and plan a big all out bash.

Not NYE! String Cheese Incident is playing in San Francisco at the convention center again. I wouldn't miss that for anything, last year was magical.

I'm open to any location! I just don't know Washington that well but I don't mind driving. Let me make sure I don't have school first before you guys pick a date.
We're gonna have a wet smoky fire! With good stout etc.

How many Oregon/Washington folks are interested in this December rendevous? That might help decide where to go. I know there's a few adventureous Portland folks with nice campers...

You guys know yer gonna freeze yer walnuts off out there? I just got back from camping solo for the weekend, and I was imagining how it would be with some cold rain thrown in. I'll do it, just want to make sure yer all prepared for the elements etc.
