Yep, the Schwab quick fit diamond chains are what I have. Easy to install and fit my 185/R14 Hankooks nice and snug.

I can't remember exactly but I seem to remember somewhere around $45 or $50. The nice thing is that with Schwab if you don't use them you can take them back for a full refund in the spring. They call it the passenger chain program or something like that.

Just picked up a set of those quick fits for the vanagon yesterday to the tune of $66.00

Got a set of Spike spiders ( http://www.spikes-spiders.com/ ) for our 97 volvo. Can't use chains because of reduced clearance and ABS.

Guess how much.....

$336.00 (After they revived me I handed him my credit card and wnet home to clean my draws)
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

Wow, I've got the Schwaby quick fits for my '89 760 wagon, had to use them yesterday, worked perfectly - so apparently my aged Volvo saved me $ once again. :king:

I don't think it's gonna happen...
The next event is that Wetwesties thing in Feb. Maybe we can try ta get something together for March? It's gonna take a while for all this snow to melt, at least in the Cascades.
Unless you guys have a different perspective?

Interestingly, that's where the Wetwesties thing is happening; Nehalem Bay SP, first weekend in Feb.

.. which I'm not going to make unless I find a big pile of that "money" stuff alongside the road or something. :drunken:

I've seen piles of money on the side of the road the past few days - unfortunately it's in the form of expensive SUV's lying on their sides in ditches ~when will they learn to slow down on the ice~

HA HA!!!

I had the same question, wonder if these people ever took into consideration that they were endangering OTHER people as well as themselves.

I'm going to try to make it. At least I know a couple of you now.
That's not really camping though. Different experience. Makes me a little cagey with all those people. But I'm antisocial.
It's been a hell of a week, I REALLY REALLY REALLY need a shot of Mother Earth. How do you humans take this crap? gaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The coast is pretty developed/sectioned off...I do know of an Audubon preserve where you can camp in some old growth, but it's about 3 hours from PDX. Hey Spiff, if you can find a wild zone in your neck of the woods I'm totally inta driving up as I'm sure some other Portland folks are as well. Just keep in mind of the low snow levels.

If all else fails, I always plan a grand expedition in March. Sort of a nice kickoff to the new year of being outdoors and usually things start melting a little bit. Last year was Little Badger Creek not far from Deschutes Land.
(aren't I beautiful?) It's still pretty damn cold but tolerable with a smoky fire.

What in the hell are you holding?

I need to find some good spots around here....

Bick rocks
river
trees
Shouldn't be too hard, eh?

Wish we were closer to the southern Utah NP's, those are AWESOME in the winter time.
