Luggage rack refresh questions--69 Campmobile

Hey, all.

I have a few questions about the removable fiberglass luggage rack.

1. Is it easy/advisable to remove the bars for cleaning/painting? If so, what's the process? I checked my Bentley and found no info about this. My bus is not at my home right now, so I can't check, but I'm planning on driving to it and working on it tomorrow.

2. Is there protective compound that I should use on the fiberglass? What do you recommend?

The bars are just pop-riveted in. Drill out the rivets and replace them after you're done refurbing the bars. This is on my to-do list also.
