update:
* got some touch-up paint and painted where the old seal was.
* put new seal today. took about an hour.
* new seal covers the old area and looks great.
* had some areas where the rubber decided it wanted to tear, but this only happened in 2 minor areas.
* did a victory lab and boy did I miss not driving the bus. mah 73 done gotz some power (unlike Oregon72's sloppy rebuild) ;)
