Louvered (Jalousie) Window Seals '78 Bus
Mine are original: cracking, and shrinking. Time to be replaced...
Anyone have experience with the seals that are now available for Jalousie windows on a late bus?
Oeveedub lists it as German-made:
http://www.oeveedub.com/mm5/merchant.mv ... ndow-seals
Bus Depot lists as European-made:
http://busdepot.com/details/details.jsp ... =231845413
Wolfsburg West's look like a good option, as they include the inner glass pane to frame seals, upper flap seal and inner frame seals:

Input is welcome..

Thanks Bob and Mike. I was leaning towards the WW seals. In doing some searching aroud the 'net, others speak highly of them as well. I also really like the fact that WW makes an entire kit, and not just the window to body seal.
Problem is, I know that once I take the window out, I'll be tempted to do a full Ratwell job...

Damn!
Just when I get around to rebuilding the jalousie windows, Ratwells site goes bad.
Anyone have a good step by step on this one? I am trying to figure out just what he did using just the text portion.
I have an aluminum polishing set up coming in the mail (from Harbor Freight) and just bought a nice Dremel set up.

using OE seals!
or there is a bit more about jalousie seals here: http://type2.com/s/?tag=exterior
. . . . if Ratwell's site stays down for long, there will be a major work stoppage in the ACVW world!! any chance he'd let someone *copy* the site to an alternate server? or whatever is needed to make sure it is not lost in one way or another? is that called a mirror site?
Good luck!

I've used the WW ones, following the Ratwell guide. 2 points that aren't in it...
1...the main seal has a join in it. Make sure you position this along a side, not at a corner, or it'll split. Yes, mine has...
2...Where Ratwell tells you to take a knife or scissors to the corners of the individual seals, do it...don't be tempted - like I was - to think that you'll get a better fit by pushing the corners of the glass out thru the seal to achieve the same thing. You won't.
I didn't think much of the rubber weatherstrips that came with the pack. I sanded my old ones down and fed 'em with washing up liquid and vaseline. They look good for another forty years. Oh, and don't feel tempted to pull the alloy strips away from the glass too hard...they bend...
