Well, got tired of the stupid crap Brazilian breaking after a month so I got some "good" German ones off S*mba..
Except the splined cup is completely stripped out smooth! Nice of someone to sell me $30 garbage. Of course they just spin instead of gripping. Any hope of restoring these things somehow, or should I just demand my $$$ back?

Maybe try to find a hard plastic insert to glue in there that can also grip the splines?
I might ask for my cabbage back. (someone must have really reefed on them to get them they way they are....jeesh)

Portland should have a self-serve wrecking yard, right?
I am sure they have a sh!tload of Rabbits. Grab every window crank out of the older ones. The Cabriolets have 4 and the rears are rarely used.
Some of the early hardtop Rabbits even had color coded handles: brown, red, blue..... besides the black.
Back in Calif when I went to Vdub meets like Octo and Bakersfield, I was selling them for a buck a piece. I was replenishing my stock every weekend, anywhere from 12 to 15 cranks each weekend.
They come either black or with a chrome circle. Here it is from cip1:

Thank you! Are those chrome ones German? They must be for $14 a pop. Those stupid Brazilian ones break in a month...

Unless you are too violent when opening and closing the windows, these last quite a while.

The later Rabbits use a fat all plastic handle that last a real long time. Just ugly!
