Reservoir under co-driver...what for??

Post by ktk833 » Sun Jan 29, 2017 7:58 am

Hi.
I see a reservoir container right underneath the co-drivers seat underneath the car with a pipe or two but disconnected. This is on my 1981 transporter vanagon. What is this meant for??
Thanks

Gasoline expansion tank, probably. If not hooked up or blocked off, you will have a fuel smell and maybe leaks with a full tank.

Yes, it's a gasoline expansion tank, and there should be another one just like it under the driver's side. Well, mirror image, but otherwise just like it.
Cegammel's suggestion to get a Bentley on another thread is very good advice. Just to be clear, we're not talking about a Bentley automobile here, but rather a Bentley Vanagon Service Manual. Google for it.
