Bus Door Panel Clips - New vs. Original

Image

The clip on the left is a new clip ordered from BD (I always receive fantastic customer service) and the clip on the right is an original. They are different.

Yep. As far as I know, the old-style clips havn't been available for years. The new ones work OK if you enlarge the holes from 6.5 mm to 8 mm (I think it was).

It seems the bus-specific (?) smaller clips are back in production. The originall part # N14 3781 put into your favorite search engine will lead to numerous vendors selling them, and even the sealing boots to match. Too bad I didn't have the foresight to see this happening back in 1999 when I drilled out the holes in my driver's side door.
It was really tough deburring the back side of those holes!

Google is just plain bizarre. Today there's only one vendor (in the first 4 pages of search results I looked at ...), a vendor I would rather douse my VW's with
gasoline and torch rather than buy from, but a couple of days ago there were 4 or 5 others, including AirHeadParts.com, BugHaus.com, and several from Europe.

Even more bizarre is the image search results for that number . . .

I hope my shipment of correct door clips and grommets comes through from JustKampers. They had my sorely needed chrome-handled door pulls, and I wasn't going to pay $135.00 shipping on $101.00 in parts, so I added door grommets and clips . . . and a roll of window chrome for the BobD.
