'75 Westy Hazard Switch Wiring

Post by dingo » Thu Apr 23, 2009 3:33 pm

Is the hazard switch integral to other systems as well? I have removed my hazard switch to diagnose it, but I want to keep other systems functional in the meantime like turn signals etc. (75 Westy)

I think the answer is yes. The turn signals are wired into the hazard switch.
The best navigators aren't sure where they're going until they get there. And then they're still not sure.

I am speaking from a more caveman-like system here. The systems are somewhat separate, at least in 1967 they were. My turn signals can be acting funky but the hazards work fine. It probably depends on the central "switch" everything runs off of. The early buses have the "9 prong" black box and THEN another flasher really off of that.

Long story short, go trace them wires on the wiring diagram. It isn't fun but you really can't do ANYTHING until you start getting your head around original wiring + PO hacks + possible dead parts.

I friggin' HATE the electrical stuff. :pukeleft:

Is the 'Emergency Flasher relay' the same unit that drives the turn signal flashing, or is there a separate unit for turn signals ?
