I got some of the one wire sockets that ground to the metal base of the gauge backing plate from Autobone. Drilled out the holes to the appropriate size and now I can see my gauges at night.

I have an appointment at The Buslab next week anyway (I want them to stick a probe up the bus's butt to check the exhaust mixture) and I have asked them to special-order Sylvania 2723 bulbs to replace the stock ones. The 2373's are recommended by Lord Ratwell.
(My fingers are much too fat to replace those bulbs. I gave up doing that over 20 years ago.)
