'67 Beetle Weird Stalling & Starting Problems

The name says it all. This is on my '67 Beetle.
She'll be running great and then she'll start to sputter, slow down and die. When I try to crank her up, she's very slow to crank and then nothing.

Are the stalling and slow cranking problems related? Is this a ground issue and if so, where?

Things recently replaced:
All rubber fuel lines and filter. The last filter had so much rust in it that it was choked up and HEAVY.
Replaced the gas tank due to rust.
Replaced the starter.
Added a hard start relay.
Cleaned the battery terminals.
Replaced the ignition switch with a NOS one (the old one had a broken spade).
New cap, rotor, plugs and wires.
Timing set and carb adjusted.

Ideas? Help!

One thing you can check.... Make sure the wire from the points to the coil isn't touching the intake manifold preheater pipe anywhere. I had that happen once and the wire melted causing it to intermittently short out on the manifold causing sputtering and backfiring. I couldn't see it looking straight-on.

Not sure about the slow cranking....
