72 Bus Shifting Problems

Post by Sluggo » Tue Sep 12, 2006 12:55 pm

The other day while I was driving, I started having trouble getting into 1st & 2nd. Since then, I have been adjusting that stop plate 10 times a day. It seems I only have a choice of 1st & 2nd being easy or 3rd & 4th (usually the latter). I've been going back & forth Left to right and no dice. I even tried pulling it and turning the stop plate around. No dice. Every time I think I have it, as soon as I start driving it starts having trouble getting into 1st & 2nd again. Bushings are great. New Coupler. Everything is lubed.

HELP!!! :crybaby:

New coupler had come loose. Figured it out when it popped off today and I couldn't shift at all. Luckily, I was in the parking lot of my apt. building. I didn't put on the retaining wire when I did it originally. Always double check if you forgot anything.
