Man did I hijack this thread!
Worth 100 klams? Mexican would be $60 for a pair of Boges. Seems like they'd be decent, but hopefully not too soft in the mountains.

I emailed the guy, seems like a good price. Turkey!

the w.german boge shocks are awesome no matter the curves, but used on crummy roads, forget it. stiffness happens. kyb seem like mush junk in comparison. choice depends on use. being on my state highway rig, i'm staying high end. doublecab may be a diff story and i may happily have a lot of spare shocks.
the ride down through 199, at dark, was so incredible it felt like driving a three year old bus. my wife kept saying drive slower. problem is the speedo is off 10mph. handling is superb with the koni/boge setup. boge damper is going in asap, seems a little needed. its my ever returning dumb vac leak that is killing all this new pleasure.

Can you elaborate on this? Do you mean the ride is too firm?w.german boge shocks are awesome no matter the curves, but used on crummy roads, forget it. stiffness happens

i think on beat up roads with washboards, potholes, tooling around town and that stuff, forget it. otoh, on state highways like 199 and 101 its like having your goat milked. seeing that you don't tour a lot, i'd leave on what you have on.hambone wrote:Can you elaborate on this? I think this is not making too much sense.skin daddio wrote: the w.german boge shocks are awesome no matter the curves, but used on crummy roads, forget it. stiffness happens.

Boges are simple hydraulic double-acting shocks. When new, they are nicely matched to the bus suspension. They only get sloppier over time.
KYBs are normally gas-charged shocks which are very good at preventing deterioration in function on washboard roads, due to the gas charge helping to keep foaming to a minimum. When new they are the stiffer shock than any Boge. They can last a good long time.
As always, there are more opinions than shock absorbers.
