Quite distinct un-even, disjointed braking. Pedal is firm. Fluid level normal and consistant.
Does not jump to the left or right...but very clearly not all wheels on the same page.
After a trip across town, only left rear drum is warm/hot. Pad wear is even on rear left, but ,material is piled up ontop of cylinder. No sign of leak.
E-brake holds steady at left rear and spins free upon release

Re: Uneven braking
When the drum overheats, it warps and you can feel it in the pedal.dingo wrote:Quite distinct un-even, disjointed braking. Pedal is firm. Fluid level normal and consistant.

1.
a) apply ebrake and release
b) feel drag in left rear wheel
c) pull and push the cable sheath for the left rear ebrake cable
d) does wheel seem freer?
remove ebrake cable end from lever and pull the cable/sheath from the backing plate and clean/lubricate
2.
a) back off the brake adjustment a bit more than usual.
b) drive with spirit and get the brakes warmed up
c) jack up left rear and see if left rear wheel has developed drag
If yes, you may have a blocked compensating port in master cylinder or a push rod adjustment that is just slightly too long

Re: Uneven braking
Thanks for that procedure. This time e-brake release and i still had drag at the wheel...Discovered a segment of the cable sheath was missing, and quite rusty
Lubricated cable. Backed off adjusters a bit. test run.

Re: Uneven braking
Issue still unresolved. Drive across town and pull in to driveway with squealing brakes.
Without applying e-brake, jack up left rear(drum is hot)....a 20 min distraction then test for drag..and there is none.
Apply e-brake. Wheel tight. Release e-brake, spins freely.
Spin wheel, apply footbrake..wheel stops. Release and check : free spin, no drag
so...hmmm

Re: Uneven braking
Can you verify that the linings are clean and dry?dingo wrote:Issue still unresolved. Drive across town and pull in to driveway with squealing brakes.

No fluid inside the cylinder boots?
Both pistons move easily?
Left rear brake hose fresh, not old and petrified?
