What do you use to get to the spark plug on cylinder 2?

While trying to get to this plug I dropped my socket and 2" extension into the tin. After the customary period of ranting, I eventually retrieved it with a small telescoping magnet. Secondly, getting the socket off the plug and back out can be irritating. Does anyone know of a supplier who has an extra deep socket that could reach without the extension?

Take a piece of vacuum hose small enough to fit the insulator on the plug snug. Then you can use this as a flexible extension in taking the plug out through the tin and also to get the plug started without cross threading.

Great idea, thanks. Once I've tightened the plug down, though, I have to gently rock the socket back and forth while pulling up. The extension always pulls out a few times. If the socket were long enough, it would be so much easier to remove. I've been willing to live with it till the dropped into the tin incident. Now I'd like to find a longer socket.

Put some tape on the square end of the extension. Makes a tighter fit.

Thank you Bill, thank you Westy78! I think that should do it.

I got an extra little extension that I locktited to the socket. I don't know what you call it, but it looks just like a universal joint. It has M/F 3/8" fittings, and it sticks out of the tin enough to get it and the socket out easily.

I also do the vacuum hose on the spark plug to get them started and threading easily.

I've never had a problem with the socket pulling off. (Now that I said that I'm sure that I will) I use craftsmen extensions and sparkplug socket that has the dimple for the small spring-loaded ball that's in the extension. Makes for a nice, snug fit.
