82 air-cooled ~ can it be smogged here in CA?

Preliminary test after tune up showed these numbers:

.............. @ 14 mph ...............

................ reading . . . (limit)

HC ppm....... 143 . . . . (204)
CO%...........5.28 . . . . (1.46)
CO2............11.8 . . . . (***)
O2................0.0 . . . . (***)
NOX.............671 . . . . (1486)

They did this as a prelim check, so it doesn't show the numbers for the C02 and O2 max, but these numbers should be well within the setting, since they meet the later, more stringent numbers for the 85.

So, what's the usual fix for a high carbon monoxide reading?

How much, or perhaps how many clicks?

Off the top of my head, lean is clockwise on the little black wheel?

Do I need to adjust timing if I lean it out?

You have to ask the engine via a vacuum hose.

Use the mixture screw first. Read the write-up on AFM adjustment in the Fuel Delivery Forum and shoot for a small increase in RPMs as you give the wiper a nudge CCW.
