82 ASI shuts off when hot

Ok, 82 van, shuts off and will not restart when hot. Good spark, good compression, fuel psi spot on. Grounds etc just cleaned. New temp 2. I'm stumped. Been working on these for years and this one has me flummoxed. Can't drive it at all. Engine ran great in the other van it was in. Cold start fine but hot it won't go.

Could you give us a few more details?

What have you checked or not checked or tested or noticed...
How does it "shut off when hot" (slowly, suddenly, etc.) ?

Try to give us a little more information so we can begin thinking through more options.
"Engine ran great in the other van it was in." Is this a recent swap or have you many years with the current setup?

cheers,
Andrew

This is a 2.0 I built years ago, was in a van as a daily driver till I wrecked it. Mostly stock but a mild Scat cam and solid lifters on CA spec FI, now running 49 state FI. It starts great cold, and I can let it idle for quite a while, 15 20 mins but when I go to drive it has no power, shuts off and won't restart. Checked spark and strong, pull injectors out and I have fuel when cranking. Old temp two was out of spec so a new one. It is a sudden stop and you can crank it but no go. Rebuilt AFM that I got years ago I didn't need. Not sure which sensor to check at this point. I'll bring home a comp gauge and check that. Fuel psi is good at 30 but haven't checked flow rate. It holds pressure for hours. All I can think of right now. Thanks in advance

Be attuned to temperature-related issues:
coil
ignition module (if not breaker points)
TS II (new or old, check it warm)
afm/ecu connector (look at fingers in plug for dislodged terminal)

Did some more tests and running it till it does something.

15-20 minutes of idle isn't what I'd call "hot". Warm, perhaps.

Have you checked your AAR elbow and connections for leaks?

I certainly don't want to send you on an expensive rabbit chase, but my double relay / fuel pump relay caused a similar issue before crapping out completely. It supposedly can be checked, but should be tested when intermittently not working, of course... My limited multimeter skill limited my testing, but a replacement solved my issues.
