Just wanted to drop in and say hi and give everyone this so simple yet so often overlooked piece of advice. I was reminded once again today that none of us are guaranteed a tomorrow, or even an entire today. My father runs a large ceramic tile/granite store and today his driver was involved in a fatal collision on the NYS Thruway. He was a great guy, middle aged and working towards retirement and for some unknown reason while on his return trip to Syracuse from Buffalo, his truck veered into the back of a striping truck (the truck that paints the lines on the highways) and became airborne before coming to rest in the median. The cab of the truck was completely demolished and he was trapped in the vehicle, though he was already deceased. He wasn't in the best physical shape so my own theory is possibly a heart attack or some other medical malfunction that woudl cause the accident. I can't say for sure he didn't fall asleep but he isn't an OTR driver trying to make up miles in a day, he goes out every morning at 8 and then is home every night around 5. Possible I guess, but from what people who saw the accident said he never hit the brakes. He flew by 165 bright orange cones warning of the spraying ahead and never slowed until becoming airborne in a 30 foot box truck loaded with quarry tile. I went with my father to his widow's house to see if there was anything we could do and I have to say I have never seen such heartbreak in a woman's face. She was completely drained. I got married just over a month ago and I couldn't imagine losing my best friend in the world so suddenly and without warning. They were married 23 years. I can not imagine the pain and utter loss she is going through. So sad..... sorry for all of the gory details, just a reminder to us all to savor each and every moment we have here on this earth. Life is indeed too short. Savor it.

That is sad...and sometimes you never see it coming. And thank you for the reminder. I try to never take things for granted, but sometimes it happens.

These are the moments where we can only glimse the mysterious power of love that is all too commonly hidden under the twiddle-twaddle of daily life. Painful as it is to experience such heartbreak, it is a worthy price to pay to know such love.
