What's your thought on engine rebuild using some used parts?

So, I have been collecting some used 40HP engines in hopes to one day rebuild one for my 1960 Single Cab. I am the type that hates to throw away parts that still have some use to them. Wondering what you all think about using "some" used parts in a rebuild. For example, if I disect one of my nicer 40HP motors and find the pistons and cylinders are in useable shape, and maybe just put new rings on them, is that exceptable? Basically my plan is to take it all apart and if any of the parts are still in spec and useable, use them, and replace parts that are bad of course.

Wonder how you all feel about this.

Make sure they have the same dish (or lack of) and have them balanced. As long as the ring lands and pin guides are good I don't see why you couldn't reuse them.

Just remember to MEASURE MEASURE MEASURE.

(Sorry. For some reason I only picked up on the pistons.. heh)
