For the next few days I will be refreshing the forum a bit to clean things up and improve performance - stay calm :)

As mentioned in PM, I can tolerate some garishness in the name of you phone people, but pray for peace, balance, a little more consistency in font sizes (just one increment back try), and as ever, a real hope for classic, clean, functional. Right now, there is a little too much zippity-doo-dah on the front page with symbols I haven't yet been able to grok. I only got the push pin, that means "pinned". I don't yet know what the green circle with star is, and there is something that looks a little bit like a Firestone "F" in an orange circle. What is that? What is all of this?

I second the font size down, at least on mobile styles. Header looks much better on mobile already!

You know? With such a fine header, I'd be interested in a burnt umber/orange in place of all maroon/purple here on the forum, and a just-right blue (slight turquoise-ish but dark enough) where the current dark slate grey is. Then the header and the forum colors would . . . . complement/compliment each other.

these are actually the same font sizes now as the old design, i updated them this morning. maybe the style sheet is caching for you. try clearing browser cache. or maybe some other change is be influencing your perception :)

the different icons are from the new phpBb update. they added icons for "hot topics" and i dont really understand wha the star means. I can change boyh those to normal read/unread icons.

I like it so far, but we really need to redirect HTTP to HTTPS. No authentication should be over HTTP anymore. I'm happy to help if I can.

From a crotchety Gen-X'er (sheesh...since when did my generation get labeled as old farts? Don't feel old...yet) the old font was easier to read (granted I typically read this forum from a laptop...yeah...guess I'm showing my age...). BUT, I do like how some of the icons are more pronounced....like, I saw I had an unread PM sitting for over two weeks from Robbie....sorry I missed out on the beers!

Got it!
You crushed all the white space out to jam this site onto a phone screen like those subdivision houses I was bitching about in Las Vegas being jammed so close that trees could never grow between them.

I was surprised to find that you were absolutely right, same fonts! same sizes! What is wrong all of a sudden? Anyways, simple, clean, elegant, No Bloat! words to live by or aspire to.
Colin
(p.s. somehow I like it)

I’ve never understood why new PM’s need to trigger a PM inbox notification AND a regular site notification. One should suffice, I think.

Since I’m mostly phone-browsing this week, I’ll mention quick links in the top left of mobile is too small for my sausage fingers. Anybody else feel this way?

I’m very ok with the visuals and colors, but I also remember the old (white and green?) days...

The old green and white days? I don't remember any green and white days. I remember that garish nightmare of green-on-black in August of 2006, that I remember.

Yes, took me a couple days to find the quick links. Ok on an iPad but still small.
