The Bus came by and I got on....

My band had the pleasure of playing the first stop on the Furthur Bus tour with Zane Kesey and the pranksters at the Barrymore Theater here in Madison, WI. Had to get a photo of my bus with "the Bus". Lots of fun.

Good grief, you stepped back into 1967. Right on, man. That is a groovy bus.

I thought the original Furthur bus was beyond repair. Is it another 47 bus re-done to look like the original, or did they really get it put back together?

It's the first time in a decade ive spent more than a year away from Madison. Kudo's on getting a gig at the Barrymore!

You are correct, the original bus, a 1939 International Harvester made its last journey to Woodstock. It's currently on Kesey's farm in Oregon. The current bus is the second version, I believe a '47 IH.

I know this thread is actually non-VW content, but couldn't resist sharing my "bus" experience.

If'n you folks wanna see it, the bus is clearly visible (or was when I was younger, more than 15 years ago now) on Kesey's old farm between Goshen and and Pleasant Hill, Oregon on the north side of Hwy 58. it's on a little country side road, and is slowly rotting away out there, it's glory days well past; such is the state of us all, I suppose.

Actually I was told last weekend that the original Bus was moved from it's resting place in the swamp to a out building on the farm. They're seriously considering trying to restore it....but from the pictures I've seen that will be a monumental effort.

It should be in the Smithsonian collection due to it's history.
