Tried to change the oil in my truck

Now that it's spring and Colin is off on his yearly VW travels it's good to see that someone still has mechanical skills. I am still in Suriname and it was time to change the oil on my 07 Isuzu 4x4 double cabin turbo diesel truck I dearly love. I have been having it changed at the dealers but this time I wanted to check over everything myself. Sent my wife to buy the proper oil and fuel filters plus the right high quality oil. Of course she came back with all the wrong stuff so I had to go back into town to swap everything for the right parts and get the right oil. One day wasted.... Day two I tackled the oil change and couldn't get the Effin drain plug to move! Ok, down to a friends who has lots of tools and got a 6 point socket and breaker bar and knew this would do it. Hah, I had to add a 3 ft piece of pipe to break it loose! and it's only supposed to be torqued to 15ft lbs. Bought a oil filter wrench and no way would it budge. Talked to a friend who said the mechanic's use air tools for everything as it's so much faster. Great, last time I use them for service.

Right on. Do It Yourself is the only way.

Ever stab an oil filter with a big honking screwdriver to use as a t-handle to remove?
. . . I have.

I went to change the oil in my girlfriend's Hondawhatever, and I was mystified at the blue cylinder the procedure told me to remove with tool #36b.

"Ok, since I'm trashing it anyways...."

That's the only way I've ever done it

yes I have too but there is little room to stab or turn due to all the 4 wheel drive stuff. The manual says to change the filter every other time so it stays on this time as I have very little mechanic tools here. Truck is for sale now but I wish it could be sent to Seattle as it's really a nice ride for a smaller pickup plus it gets over 26 mpg with that turbo diesel engine.
