new home

Post by Cindy » Mon Jul 29, 2013 9:14 pm

After two VERY long and VERY difficult years, the kids and I are leaving my parents' house and moving into a little place .8 miles from the southern shore of Lake Ontario. I couldn't get a photo of the house itself--it was getting too dark. But it's a cute little thing. 150 years old, part of a farm, and owned by a really nice, really spry 86-year-old guy. (He lives right next door and I've yet to see him sit still.)

Here's a link to the photos I did manage to get.

FYI, This link works fine:
https://picasaweb.google.com/CindyBlosenhauer

But the new pics/album must not be setup to be shared publicly, so unless were logged into your Picasaweb(google) account - we can't see them.

Try changing the permissions to share publicly and the original URL should start working.

Lake effect, heck yeah.

I'll see if I can fix the link.

150 years old. Heh. Nothing in Irvine built before about 1965... a few things, but not much.

Reminds me of visiting a pen-pal in Austria. Her father was a dairy farmer in the Austrian alps east of Innsbruck. I asked her how old the house was when we walked in, because I noticed that on the inside of the lintel stone, the wood had been worn away from the feet treading in/out over the years; but the planks appeared to be rather substantial. Her reply: "Oh, around 400 years old." My 19 year old self: "So... your house is older than my country. Hmm."

Enjoy the new digs; I look forward to seeing a nice set of pictures showing the change of seasons. One of these days I'll post a few good pictures of Irvine, and then we can have some friendly banter on the historical topic of your choice!
