Formula 1 returns to the United States this weekend

It's been 5 or 6 years since F1 was in the United States and for the first time since Watkins Glen it's at a dedicated F1 circuit to boot.
The track is beautiful, with some wonderful elevation changes and very high speed S's and corners to tackle.

I had hoped to make it down there for the event but life gets in the way of plans sometimes. My friend is a volunteer there this weekend and randomly selected the top of turn 1 as his assigned corner (hospitality stand).

To those of you who follow motorsports here, what do you think so far?

I used to love Formula One, but it has evolved to such a state that it looks like cyborgs zinging around in go-karts, it is in such a rarified stratosphere of money.

money still can't buy wins though. Adrian Newey is out there year after year, of late, proving that the right aerodynamicist can make all the difference in the world.
McLaren and Ferrari can't spend enough money to recreate the brilliance of that mans constantly evolving designs.

I need to re-plug in. The last Formula One race I got to see was the Toyota Grand Prix of 1982 was it? when Phil took me for a hot lap on the streets of Long Beach CA in the pace car. That was a trip.
