Using it as my day to day transport, when I'm not riding my bike. Put the roof rack on, since I have big plans on using it to bring home fence sections from Home Depot. Also added the middle seat to maximize my youngster hauling capacity.Gypsie wrote:Well Chi,

Re: Troutmobile on the table
It was a lot of fun rereading this thread. At the end of October 2010, the other head went and I've posted some of the challenges I've had getting the Troutmobile back on the road in other threads.
Now the last big challenge, after replacing the pistons, cylinders and the other head, and just generally cleaning up and doing maintenance that was needed... was that it seemed to be running too rich. No power sometimes, if I turned the wiper arm ccw it would bog. I think I had seriously monkeyed with this AFM to get it to work with the Troutmobile the way it was configured back then. I tried to follow Colin's write up about the AFM adjustment procedure, still it ran like crap. So I had an AFM off of an early 80s Vanagon that a Chitwn mechanic had given me, I could tell by the globs of silicone that it hadn't been messed with. So I swapped it in and viola! the Troutmobile ran pretty dang good!
That is where I am right now, it isn't running perfectly, but I took it out and stretched its legs and the Troutmobile is back!

The green$ are tough to find in these parts lately. Still you are welcome, I can promise a friendly game of pool and a few beers.

Re: Troutmobile on the table
Lots of weird AFM issues out there. How the hell do you know if it's the AFM or some other system? Process of elimination I guess.
It is weird seeing that bus in Chicago.
