Hello! Proud New Owner ...
... of a 1976 VW bus.
It needs some (a lot) of work but am excited to begin. I have no interior in the back. No seats. I cannot get the blinkers to work. Starting with fuses and relay tomorrow after work and see if they are the culprit, however, any words of advice are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site!
If you didn't already, be sure to put one of these on your shopping list:
http://www.busdepot.com/411813225
It's the missing seal around the engine. Aircooled engines will want to keep that hot exhaust air from coming up into the compartment.
Good luck with the lights. Check all of the bulbs and their connections.

Fresh, I stuck your post here so you can sort of make a diary of your progress. If you should attempt to foray into the Technical Forums again, please follow the protocols. Don't worry about the stinging rebuke. All of us have been absolutely horrible about following the rules around here.

Re: Hello! Proud New Owner ...
I will dive into the fuel lines this weekend to make sure they are ok. I believe the PO replaced them recently. Replaced brakes recently. Thanks for any and all words of advice. The bus does have later model seats in it that I would like to get back to original at some point. It will take me some time but I love it so far.

Re: Hello! Proud New Owner ...
Fuel lines are critical but as mentioned before, get that engine seal in before you even think of a drive around the block. And welcome to the forum. It's always good to bring one back.
Keep it acoustic.

Re: Hello! Proud New Owner ...
Engine seal is on the way. Need a new muffler and need to replace CV joints. Any suggestions on each would be great. VW Parts store about an hour from me said he has a muffler that is $80. Seams cheap to me but not sure. Again 1976 Transporter. Finding CV joints for about $50-$60 for each side.

Re: Hello! Proud New Owner ...
Take photos of the exhaust system as it is right now! I would take step back and decide what you need for a muffler in the long term. I.E. stock for 76, similar system with more readily available manifolds - or after market. Take into account state of heat exchangers, whether you need to pass SMOG and what serviceable components you already have. Your local VW parts store will sell you what they have in stock so best find out just what it is before buying. Then take a look at Samba classifieds, Vintagespeed, Type IV store and busdepot at a minimum to see what the other options are. And there aren't too many.
