'69 Westy Icebox Seal

Post by hambone » Wed Aug 23, 2006 1:35 pm

I'm talkin' the grey lippey seal that's stapled to the door. Does anyone know where a replacement could be found? None of the big boys vendors seem to carry it. Mine doesn't seal well anymore, it's more of a grey shredded crumbly thing.
Gracias!

Thanks man. This one looks the closest:

but not an exact match. Too bad, but what do I expect? I'm sure Westy didn't expect these things to last 37 years!
I'm really surprised the vendors don't stock a replacement...

Yeah, sometimes I'm camping in mine and think deep thoughts about how the engineers of the bus probably never imagined people camping and using it for its original purpose 35yrs down the road.

wonder what useful cars made nowadays will still be around in 30yrs.

The second gasket looks close, but what are the dimensions of the box? you could always just get a bigger one and cut it down in the middle areas. I bet a little silicone would seal it up just fine.
