VW Tent

How fast can you set one up and what's the easiest way to do it? Takes me a good 40 minutes every time. OK.. hour. 5 minutes at least getting the bus in the right spot.

The "best" way is to first place in the right position then open a cold beer and let the wife and kids set it up. You are tired from driving all day!

It takes me about 15 minutes to set the tent up. There are a couple things I try to keep in mind when I am setting up.

1) Know which corner pieces go in which corner. Label them if you have to. Once you have the corners correct, setting up the poles is quick. When set up, it may look like the poles are leaning a little. Two poles will appear to go straight down (or close) while two tilt away from the top. The ones that are closer to vertical go against the bus, while the others point away from the bus.

2) Line up the front edge of the sliding door opening with the opening in the tent. I find it easier to lay the tent out next to the bus, then put the poles together and "hang" the tent. Once the tent is hung, you hook the rubber bit on the top to the drip rail. You need to adjust the position before hooking to the drip rail.

Good luck to you!
